attexis® – the first permanently listed DiGA for adults with ADHD

MEDICE, the European market leader in the field of ADHD(1), has further expanded its broad therapeutic offering in this indication with attexis® by providing a therapy that can be used flexibly for affected individuals. Since 6 August 2025, all statutory health insurance providers and many private insurers have covered the costs of attexis®.

DiGA attexis® provides sustainable support

attexis® offers ADHD patients aged 18 and over an individualized digital therapy for support in everyday life, with a focus on effective daily structuring, symptom management and strengthening self-management in line with the S3 guideline(2).

The programme consists of six interactive sessions in the form of digital therapeutic dialogues. At the beginning, users answer an introductory question, on the basis of which they subsequently receive suitable content tailored to their individual needs and challenges. As the dialogues progress, the content can be further personalized through the selection of corresponding answers. Weekly reflections and progress overviews make developmental steps visible and promote motivation.

With planning functions, checklists and routines, attexis® supports daily structure and the transfer of therapeutic content into everyday life. Practical materials such as exercises and audio files facilitate integration and promote sustainable change.

“We want to offer adults an additional and targeted digital therapy option, particularly in light of the often months-long waiting times for a therapy place. With this solution, we complement treatment options and expand the possibilities of continuous and multimodal therapy,” says Dr. med. Katja Pütter-Ammer, Managing Partner of MEDICE.

attexis® provides digital support throughout daily life for adults with ADHD

Based on effective psychological and psychotherapeutic treatment approaches, attexis® is intended for adults with ADHD, both with and without medication-based treatment. The programme provides continuous therapeutic support and assistance both within and outside psychiatric consultations: patients can use attexis® even before the start of pharmacotherapy and/or psychotherapy to bridge waiting periods and receive immediate support. At the same time, attexis® enables supportive treatment between therapy sessions as well as follow-up care for patients.

For physicians, this creates an additional evidence-based and multimodal treatment option that makes healthcare delivery more efficient and resource-conscious.

Evidence-based effectiveness

The effectiveness of attexis® has been demonstrated in a randomized controlled study: the use of attexis® in addition to “Treatment as Usual” (TAU) led to a significant reduction in core ADHD symptoms with a large effect size compared to TAU alone(3).

The secondary endpoints “social and occupational functioning”, “health-related quality of life”, “depressive symptoms” and “self-esteem” also improved significantly compared to TAU.

As a pioneer in the field of digital health solutions, MEDICE – The Health Family continues to build on its successes: only recently, the company received approval for hiToco®, the first DiGA for parents of children with ADHD. With attexis®, MEDICE is now expanding its offering for the treatment of adults with ADHD. This success is based, among other things, on many years of expertise and extensive competence in the field of pharmacological ADHD therapy.

attexis® was developed by GAIA under the leadership of Dr. Gitta Jacob. The study was conducted together with PD Dr. Eva Fassbinder (Center for Integrative Psychiatry Kiel), Dipl.-Psych. Roberto D’Amelio (Saarland University Medical Center and Faculty of Medicine of Saarland University, Department of Internal Medicine IV) and Prof. Dr. Petra Retz-Junginger (Saarland University Medical Center and Faculty of Medicine of Saarland University, Forensic Psychology and Psychiatry). GAIA is a globally leading developer of digital therapeutics, based on established psychological and psychotherapeutic methods and current scientific standards.

“ADHD is often associated with considerable burdens in everyday life and a reduced quality of life. For these people, the permanent approval of attexis® represents a milestone in their care. For the first time, patients and their healthcare providers now have permanent access to a digital therapy with proven symptom reduction and comprehensive healthcare benefits,” says Dr. med. Mario Weiss, CEO of GAIA.
